In early 2017, after industry consultation, and as a drive for continual improvement, the decision was taken to commit Metrol to the process of complying with the American Petroleum Institute (API) Q2.

API Q2 is the first ever Quality Management System certification for service supply organisations in the oil and natural gas industry. The standard was put in place after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico highlighted areas of non-compliance in the service supply industry over a number of years.

The new standard was launched in 2011 to reduce risk and improve quality for the execution of upstream services, these include but are not limited to, well intervention, well abandonment, production, and valve construction.

To receive certification, applicants must have robust procedures in place and Metrol have worked in conjunction with Wollam Petroleum Advisory Group (WPAG) with the target to be compliant by the end of 2017. After being audited in January and February 2018, we were awarded a Certificate of Compliance to API Q2 by API accredited WPAG.
