A well test was conducted on a zone where the early production rates achieved were disappointing and the client decided to target two particular layers located towards the bottom of the main interval for acid stimulation to try and increase the zonal productivity. These layers showed the best permeability and porosity from the logs.

Two PRO-LOG™ thermal arrays were deployed on TCP guns across the zone and able to monitor the efficacy of the acid job with particular reference to the two targeted layers.

The video shows clearly how far the acid penetrated and how the zone responded during the subsequent flow period. As this data was available ‘real-time’, it became quickly obvious that acid was not reaching the intended target and the well test was cut short saving valuable rig time.
