Paragon 3
Retrofit wireless telemetry for existing completions
“Turn a dumb one into a smart one”
Metrol’s Paragon Technology offers a flexible and innovative method of collecting downhole pressure/temperature data at surface from existing production wells.
The real time and historic data from the “talking” gauges is transmitted to the surface by Metrol’s acoustic relays that can be set internally on slickline suspension tools. The relays can transmit data from different gauges located in different parts of the string. This could be from gauges reading pressure and temperature from different zones in the completion, or gauges located above and below the packers. There are also options to add further gauges and other sensors at each location, enabling multi-zone, real-time measurements, and fluid gradients.
It is also possible to use Paragon to function other devices downhole. For example, Metrol has a Downhole Shut-In-Tool (DHSIT) which can be set in a nipple and acoustically activated from the surface. Metrol can also activate individual bottom-hole PVT samplers (run with or without the gauges) by sending acoustic instructions from the surface. Importantly, activation return signals confirm at the Paragon data collection terminal that the instructions or functions have been successfully performed. Other devices, such as Venturi flowmeters and gun activators, can also be deployed.
Paragon offers the ability to convert an existing completion into a “smart” well on a temporary or semi-permanent basis, and return the well to its original status when required.
